Rick Scott Vetoes Alimony Bill

Big family law news this weekend! Governor Scott vetoed a contentious alimony and child custody bill yesterday. Of many changes to current divorce and alimony laws this bill would have forced the hands of judges to assign 50/50 time sharing of a minor child when it was not necessarily in the best interest of the child. In his veto letter Governor Scott said “when a divorce involves a minor child, the needs of the child must come before all others.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves Governor!
