High-asset divorce: Movie couple separates after 25 years

A few years ago, Florida residents may have viewed a Hollywood movie starring Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams, which was based on the real-life story of one couple’s unique love story. The movie was called “The Vow” and warmed the hearts of many who watched it. People in Florida who watched the movie may be sad to learn that the couple on whom the movie was based has faced some recent struggles and may be negotiating a high-asset divorce.

Just two short months following their wedding vows, the couple was in a horrific car accident. The wife suffered a traumatic brain injury and was in a coma for approximately 21 days. Once she woke up, she could no longer recall her husband or any of the time they had shared together. Taking their vows seriously, they were able to reconnect, and the wife reported falling in love with her husband again. The couple renewed their vows in honor of their renewed commitment to each other.

Sadly, the wife has recently accused her husband of infidelity after 25 years of marriage. The couple has separated, and they live apart from each other. The couple share two children; one child lives with the father, and the other child, who is under the age of 18, lives with the mother.

It is sad to see a once happily married couple separate, and it is certainly difficult for any couple who is going through the process. Florida family law attorneys are equipped to handle any complicated high-asset divorce. If desired, attorneys can advise the best way to approach separating assets and lives for the smoothest transition possible.
