Most Florida motorists following the traffic laws and rules of the road, but they can’t always avoid the recklessness of other drivers. Unfortunately, negligence and recklessness of one driver can result in serious motor vehicle accidents to unsuspecting travelers. One family is grieving the death of a loved one after a wrong-way driver caused a fatal collision.
A 35-year-old man was traveling eastbound in westbound lanes early on a recent morning. He crashed his pickup truck head-on into another vehicle. The impact of the crash resulted in the pickup flipping on its side, and witnesses reported that the other vehicle appeared to be shredded.
The pickup driver suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. The other driver, a 45-year-old man, was trapped in his vehicle. Responders cut off the roof of his vehicle, but they weren’t able to save him. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Toxicology tests are pending, but the pickup driver is suspected to have been under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol at the time of the crash.
Sadly, many motor vehicle accidents result in serious injuries and/or the deaths of unsuspecting victims. Apart from any criminal charges or traffic citations that an apparent negligent driver may face, family members of deceased victims may be entitled to file wrongful death lawsuit in civil court with the help of a skilled Florida attorney. Although, lawsuits do not alleviate the grief one may feel, a successfully navigated claim may result in a monetary judgment to cover financial losses accruing from the tragedy.
